VAT

Most companies in Sweden need to be registered for VAT.

The VAT has no direct effect on either the financial statements, the annual report, or the declaration, but your work with VAT runs as usual, regardless of whether you have monthly, quarterly, or annual VAT.

Sistec provides expertise to make it easier for you as an entrepreneur in Sweden.

In our daily work we meet entrepreneurs from different countries around the world, this help us to understand the challenge of running and conduct business in Sweden.

VAT payments to the Swedish Tax Agency may differ depending on company form, turnover, financial year and VAT period.

  • Individual companies with an annual VAT return and a maximum of SEK 1 million in turnover
  • Limited companies with a monthly VAT return, between SEK 1-40 million in turnover and with December as the last month of their financial year
  • Trading company with a monthly VAT return, between SEK 1-40 million in turnover and with December as the last month of its financial year

Financial statements / Annual report

A financial statement is a compilation of a company’s accounting at a specific time. When you make an annual report, you sometimes talk about financial statements and annual reports as two separate activities, where “financial statements” refers to the compilation and review of the accounts, and “annual report” refers to the preparation of the actual document to be submitted to the Swedish Companies Registration Office.
